Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. The Shidler College of Business TIM School offers has an internship-heavy (400 hours/year) BS degree. It is building a practitioner-focused MS program. This position will collaborate with the Shidler Career Services Office under the strategic guidance of the Assistant As internships are for-credit, the development and grading are S-Faculty functions. This position identifies internship, placement and networking opportunities for students in TIM while coordinating standards and reporting practices with of the Shidler College of Business Career Services Office.

 

  • Represent the College for the TIM programs to establish and maintain an effective network of business, government and industry professionals in Hawaii, the U.S. Mainland, and in Asian countries in which the College has ongoing academic programs and/or an alumni Develop relationships with businesses and organizations in Hawaii and beyond to increase opportunities for internships and job placement, with particular emphasis on Travel Industry Management (TIM) students.
  •  

  • Advise TIM students by assessing student interests, career goals and qualifications with regard to professional development needs and internship opportunities and provide technical assistance with strategy, networking and information with regard to job placement.
  •  

  • Work closely with the Shidler College Director of Alumni Engagement to develop and implement a joint program to facilitate networking between alumni and TIM students and to develop and guide student mentorship programs.
  •  

  • Create and maintain a database which provides detailed statistics with regard to job placement of TIM students. Evaluate the effectiveness of the professional development and career services program; interpret data using a variety of assessment techniques and metrics; and develop strategies to improve upon the program.
  •  

  • Develop and maintain the content material on the TIM website, ensuring that the content is current, relevant, and appropriate for students, prospective students and Specifically, develop reports for stakeholders on internships and job placement, including employers and salary information.

  • Oversee the internship program and job placements for TIM

  • Develop and implement programs to assist students in their professional

  • Supervise internships taken for credit by TIM Serve as an active member of a Human Resources/Training professional organization such as SHRM and other relevant industry organizations to stay informed of business practices and community efforts.

  • Recruit, train and mentor undergraduate students to provide support to the Shidler Career Services Office.

    Minimum Qualifications

     

    1. Master's degree from a college or university of recognized standing in Business Administration or related field.

     

  • One year of professional experience in a relevant

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with sensitivity and tact with students, faculty, staff, and the business community.
  •  

  • Demonstrated working knowledge in the use of metrics to evaluate program

  • Possess a positive attitude and ability to work as part of a

  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to perform complex tasks, prioritize tasks and see tasks through completion.

    1. Two or more years of experience in the area of career services or human resource management.
    2. Ability to service students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
