Opening Details

Williams College, a Division III institution and member of the New England Small College Athletics Conference (NESCAC), is seeking applicants for a part-time diving coach for the Women’s and Men’s diving teams, working 26.5 hours per week. This position will have a 9-month appointment, with the possibility of renewal, and provides benefits as well as full tuition-remission of graduate school after six months of employment.

Our facility has 2 1-meter boards, 2 3-meter boards, and a trampoline on deck with a spotting belt. The ideal candidate will have experience with NCAA rules and regulations, have a keen ability to coach and mentor all ability levels including national qualifiers, while understanding the rigors of the academic demands at Williams College. In addition, a successful candidate will develop daily, weekly, and seasonal training plans that are complemented by a comprehensive dryland program, partner with our strength and conditioning coaches to ensure the weight program is diving specific, and promote an inclusive culture and a positive environment that encourages student-athletes to strive for academic and athletic excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Coach with duties as needed/assigned
  • Lead recruiting efforts for potential student-athletes including, but not limited to, correspondence, talent assessment, and scheduling on-campus visits
  • Assist in preparing and planning home meet operations and travel meet plans
  • Support coaching staff with team meetings and other administrative duties
  • Safely use a trampoline and spotting rig for training and instructive purposes
  • Teach new dives and techniques with an ability to analyze diving performances and identify areas needed for improvement
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and competitive collegiate diving experience required
  • At least 3 years of coaching experience required; including 3-meter coaching experience
  • Commitment to the student-athlete, passion for the sport, attention to detail, excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to recruit, teach and coach highly talented scholar-athletes who can succeed in a challenging academic environment
  • Cultural competence when working with a diverse student body
  • Valid Driver’s License required
Application review will begin on May 3, 2022 and will continue until the position is filled. Pay will be $25,000. Job band 2-E.
