A full-time, professional academic staff position is available in Learning and Technology Services, Technical Support Services (TSS) subunit, beginning May 23, 2022. The working title for this assignment is System Administrator with an official title of Technical Integration Engineer III.  This is a renewable assignment position.  The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

This position is primarily responsible for providing system administration support for Voice-over-IP (VoIP) call managers, phones, and overall voice infrastructure for the UW-Eau Claire campuses. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, coordinating, and managing the Voice-over-IP (VoIP) system including integrations, upgrades, and unified messaging. Providing advanced troubleshooting and technical support associated with the voice infrastructure along with coordinating the purchasing and billing of hardware and services are also key responsibilities.

Along with providing technical and system administration support for the VOIP infrastructure, this position will provide backup support for both our card services and server and storage infrastructure. Working collaboratively and effectively with Learning & Technology Services staff, University Centers staff, and Housing & Residence Life staff to provide backup system administration and hardware support is a key secondary role of this position. 

There is opportunity for partial remote work after onboarding.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated experience in providing system administration support of Windows or Linux server infrastructures. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills along with the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure. 
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and is self-motivated  
  • MUST be work-authorized in the United States. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Demonstrated experience in providing system administration support for point of sale, card access, Voice-over-IP (VoIP) call managers, phones, and overall voice infrastructure. 
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent area is preferred 
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness. 

THE UNIT: The unit of Learning & Technology Services consists of 50 staff members in the subunits of Enterprise Software Systems, Technical Support Services, Client Support Services, and Learning Spaces. Learning & Technology Services also coordinates very closely with the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning unit.
