A full-time, professional academic staff position is available in Learning and Technology Services beginning June 6, 2022. The working title for this assignment is Training Consultant and Coordinator with an official title of Teaching, Learning, and Technology Specialist III.  This is a renewable assignment position.  The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

This position operates as a member of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning instructional design team and partners with faculty, staff, and students to foster learning and use of technology. This role is a high-impact work experience that provides consulting services on a wide variety of hardware and software, including desktop operating system software and application software running on Windows and Macintosh platforms. This position will create and conduct workshops, classroom presentations, and one-on-one consultations, be responsible for the technology Training program on campus, and collaborate with the Help Desk. This position operates in a dynamic environment of fast-changing technology and software. It also requires the supervision of student consultants and management of the student payroll budget.

  • Assist and advise faculty on the effective use of the technology tools for instructional use through individualized consultations and/or training sessions.
  • Collaborate with faculty to design technology learning opportunities and
  • Provide individual consultations, training, troubleshooting, and just-in-time research to meet faculty learning technology needs.
  • Facilitate, lead, and plan group workshops and training related to learning technology.
  • Plan, develop, and implement Training offerings with appropriate documentation.
  • Supervise the Training program activities and foster positive student employee performance.

There is opportunity for partial remote work after onboarding.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in educational technology, education, instructional design, e-learning, training and development, information technology, information systems, or related fields. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into usable, easy-to-follow instructions.
  • Ability to communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Adaptable to changing work environments.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Technology troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience creating tutorials/videos or lesson/training
  • Ability to clearly present highly technical information to students, faculty, and staff with widely varying skill levels.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Working knowledge of Windows and macOS platforms.
  • Effective supervisory management and mentoring skills.
  • MUST be work-authorized in the United States.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Teaching experience (online or face-to-face).
  • Knowledge of instructional design practices.
  • Experience in providing end-user technical support.
  • Experience developing workshop materials.
  • Ability to diagnose and solve complex technical issues.
  • Experience with video editing software, web content management systems, learning management systems, and survey tools.

THE UNIT: The unit of Learning & Technology Services consists of 50 staff members in the subunits of Enterprise Software Systems, Technical Support Services, Client Support Services, and Learning Spaces. Learning & Technology Services also coordinates very closely with the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning unit.
