Instructor, Health & Physical Education- Adjunct

Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, developing curriculum courses, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field.  He/she will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college. Under general supervision, this individual will develop, prepare, and teach Health & Physical Education courses within the department. Instructional responsibilities require a broad-based knowledge of the health & physical education field. The individual may be required to teach day, evening and/or weekend hours.
Education Required:

• Master's degree in a Physical Education field e.g., Physical Education, Kinesiology, Sports Studies, Sports Sciences, Physiology of Exercise, from a regionally accredited university with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hour credits in Health & Physical Education
• Current certification in specific sport/skill
• Current certification in CPR, First Aid, AED

Education Preferred:

• Doctoral degree in a Physical Education field e.g., Physical Education, Kinesiology, Sports Studies, Sports Sciences, Physiology of Exercise, from a regionally accredited university

Experience Required:

• Post-secondary teaching experience in Health & Physical Education

Experience Preferred:

• Community college teaching experience
• Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes
• Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems
