GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Director, Alumni Engagement will develop and implement a strategy to grow engagement for US based Chicago Booth alumni and inspire them to give back to the school and community in meaningful ways. This position will identify opportunities to expand the breadth and depth of alumni engagement to increase pipeline development, alumni career connections, student engagement, global alignment, and affinity connections. The Director will be required to engage key partners across Chicago Booth and the University. Major areas of focus include alumni organizations, affinity programming, diversity and inclusion, events, communications, reporting and analytics. The Director will lead a team of frontline relationship managers and be responsible for moving diversity and inclusion efforts forward.

 

This position is based in Chicago and will require 10% travel.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for defining, developing, directing, and evaluating the vision for regionally and affinity-based alumni engagement within the US.
  • Develop market/business plan for key alumni markets in the US that increase alumni engagement and measures success.
  • Provide leadership to US and affinity-based team members.
  • Plan, organize, and support alumni-based organizations and activities around the US.
  • Define and measure key metrics to track alumni engagement.
  • Plan, organize, and implement a volunteer management strategy to support alumni groups.
  • Coordinate communication to alumni including collaboration with the Advancement Communications team, Dean’s Office, Booth Marketing, and University alumni relations.
  • Prepare strategies for alumni engagement components of fundraising efforts.
  • Ensure alignment of alumni events and activities with the goals and objectives of the department and Booth.
  • Work closely with the Director leading global alumni engagement, Booth major gifts, Booth annual fund, and University alumni relations.
  • Input and assess metrics and progress towards goals.
  • Plan and manage US and affinity-based budgets.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required.
  • Minimum of seven years of progressive growth and management experience required; direct experience in higher education or advancement preferred.
  • Volunteer management experience required.
  • Experience working in a campaign preferred.
  • Proven experience developing, leading, and motivating a team required.
  • Demonstrated experience working with both internal and external partners.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, highly collaborative environment.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, presentation, and communications skills required, characterized by the ability to listen, to speak, and to write well, with a strong commitment to customer service.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills required.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work well with and through others required.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and tact required.
  • Willingness and ability to attend events outside of business hours required.
  • Travel required.
