The Rowland School of Business is conducting a search for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Organizational Development and Innovation. The position is slated to begin in the Fall 2022 semester and will reside within the Department of Community Engagement & Leadership.

 

The Rowland School of Business values rigorous and original research, a student-centered learning experience, excellence in curriculum development, and advancing applied leadership in business practice or public policy.

 

By the start of the 2022-23 academic year, applicants for assistant professor position are expected to have a doctorate in Organizational Behavior, Management, Public Administration, Leadership, Community Engagement, or a related field; show initial evidence of excellence in participatory research as well as initial evidence of potential success as a teacher.

 

All applicants are expected to be involved in fostering inclusive research and teaching related environment that focuses on the development and engagement of practicing professionals.

 

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will teach courses in traditional and online formats both in the undergraduate and graduate curricula.

  • Active leader in participatory research in such areas as organizational theory/behavior, nonprofit management, strategy, ethics/business & society, entrepreneurship;
  • Graduate teaching will focus on Organizational Theory & Behavior, Human Centered Design, Nonprofit Management, Research Methodologies (participatory research, qualitative, quantitative) and other courses in the department related to the candidate’s expertise;
  • Undergraduate teaching might include Organizational Behavior, Systems Thinking; Human Centered Design, Management, Public Administration, Nonprofit management, and other classes related to the department’s needs and the candidate’s expertise;
  • The successful candidate will also supervise and mentor graduate students and serve on dissertation committees.
  • The Assistant Professor of Organizational Behavior will maintain an active agenda and serve the university on a faculty assembly committee or through related work. Point Park’s collective bargaining agreement requires faculty members to teach three graduate classes or four undergraduate classes per semester. There are opportunities for course releases for scholarly activity and service to the university.

 

Qualifications

The Assistant Professor of Organizational Development and Innovation will:

  • Have expertise in quantitative research methodologies;
  • Be a teacher/scholar with an earned doctorate in Business Administration, Organizational Behavior, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Leadership, or related field;
  • Demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching and applied research;
  • Be adept at teaching and working with diverse communities of students, faculty, and staff.
