GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Department of Humanities seeks to fill a full-time, term faculty position in English at the Instructor level.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Primarily teach composition courses in person for the general education curriculum
•Teach upper-level electives and online courses dependent on demand
•Maintain office hours and provide advisement and mentorship for students
•Assist in curriculum development and review
•Engage in professional development
•Engage in service to the department, college, and university
•Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
•Preferred areas of interest and competence include composition and rhetoric
•Dedication to ensuring excellence in curriculum delivery, development, and assessment
•Commitment to the role of a comprehensive university in a multi-cultural setting
•Ability to advise, instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate students in general education and field of study
•Ability and willingness to learn all software specific to Central State University that is required to perform duties
•Ability and willingness to teach fully online courses
•Expertise in cutting-edge pedagogy, assessment, and/or community-based teaching(community relations, student-faculty collaborations) is highly desirable Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
•Education: M.A. in English or closely related field; demonstration of specialization in composition and rhetoric preferred.
•Experience: 2+ years of teaching experience. Evidence of effective teaching, assessment, and curriculum development preferred.
