JOB SUMMARY:

Under routine supervision, the Web Developer performs the tasks associated with creating, editing, and maintaining content for numerous Niagara University websites, as well as assisting in support of the various information systems on campus.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

 

  • Create and maintain components of numerous Niagara University websites.
  • Assist the University community in the development of websites under the advisement of the Assistant Director of Information Services.
  • Support the various information systems that interface with the university websites.
  • Continuously evaluate the design and functionality of supported websites and applications, and makes thoughtful and significant recommendations for improvements.
  • Provide training, documentation, and support for departmental content managers.
  • Create email templates using HTML.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information (including but not limited to: student and employee personal information, student grades, etc.), both during and after their employment with the University. Any question regarding the confidentiality of material should be referred to the supervisor. Any violation shall subject the employee to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.




REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Fluent in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other relevant web design coding languages.
  • Experience developing, managing, and optimizing websites using content management systems; Familiarity with SilverStripe is a plus but not required.
  • Understanding of software used to provide web-based services.
  • Experience using a variety of graphic design, multimedia production, and related packages.
  • Assist in creating and modifying content for SEO optimization.
  • Understanding of the key principles of branding.
  • Collaborate with team members; maintain a flexible approach and a willingness to accept feedback.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently and handle multiple projects in a timely fashion.
  • Keep up-to-date on emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them to operations and activities.
  • Ability to receive telephone calls, respond to inquiries, and communicate with others by telephone with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity with proficiency to handle various office machines including but not limited to computer keyboard, computer software applications, calculator, copy machine, and fax.
  • Ability to read and comprehend the English language sufficiently to be able to read and understand various forms, documentation, files, and information in the department.



QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

 

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
  • A minimum of two years of experience working with web-based development and maintenance is required.

This position has been identified as requiring a cell phone to fulfill job responsibilities and for other business purposes. Compliance with the University's Employee Cell Phone for Business Use Policy is required. Employees will be evaluated after the probation period to determine the ability for position to participate in the Remote Work Program offered by the University.
