Job Summary/Basic Function:

Wheaton College seeks a Visiting Professor of Practice in Design (one-year appointment), who will contribute to a new, interdisciplinary Design Program launching in the fall of 2022. The visiting faculty member will teach three courses per semester, namely; Graphic Design I & II, Digital Tools for Art & Design (an Adobe Suite literacy course), Design Methodologies, and two sections of 2D Design.

The Design Program at Wheaton supports students interested in creative fields with a balanced curriculum of design theory and practice. Students complete a core of foundational courses; select one of two concentrations in Graphic & Visual Communication orObjects & Spaces; and complete a collaborative senior capstone in design. More information about the program is available here .

The new program is driven by liberal arts values with a focus on human experience, collaboration, ethical problem-solving, interdisciplinarity, and a commitment to social justice – all part of the Wheaton ethos. We seek a candidate with a demonstrated record of design pedagogy and practice with awareness of matters of racial, social, and environmental justice.
