The Director of Finance and Administration is responsible for directing all financial and related
administrative functions of the Universities at Shady Grove (USG), including accounting,
budgeting, auxiliary operations, finance, procurement, accounts payable, and human
resources activities that involve payroll and other related tasks. This includes establishing
best practices for the campus for ensuring financial compliance, managing expenses and
financial reporting. The Director is responsible for providing high-level analysis, forecasts and
other required reports to the Executive Director and senior leadership team. The Director
serves on the Executive Council, and is USG’s primary liaison to the campus, USM system
office, partner institutions (nine USM institutions) and government sponsors on financial and
related administrative matters. The Director supervises USG’s financial staff (including payroll
activity), auxiliary support, and budget staff and development and is responsible for
overseeing grant writing and administration. The Director of Finance and Administration will
play an integral role in institutional wide administration working groups. The Universities at
Shady Grove has been designated as a stand-alone institution, as such, this position acts as
the Chief Financial Officer.

Minimum Qualifications:
Required Education:
▪ Master’s Degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field is
required.
Required Experience:
▪ Ten (10) or more years of senior-level management experience in academia,
government, or industry.
Preferences:
Education:
▪ CPA is strongly preferred.
Experience:
▪ Experience working in the University System of Maryland or public higher education
strongly preferred.
