Lethbridge College is located in the central area of lands traditionally occupied by Siksikaitsitapi, the Blackfoot Confederacy. As both the traditional and current Land Keepers of this area, the Blackfoot Nations have welcomed people from other Indigenous territories, including all signatory Nations of Treaty No. 7, members of the Métis Nation of Alberta Region 3, and non-Indigenous people who have come to call the City of Lethbridge home.

Established in 1957, Lethbridge College is a board-governed public college operating as a Comprehensive Community Institution under the authority of the Post-secondary Learning Act of Alberta. Lethbridge College is an educational mainstay with 4,000 full-time students and over 15,000 credit and non-credit learners in continuing education and professional development programs, supported by 1,000 dedicated employees. Working in a collegial and collaborative culture, members of the Lethbridge College community have a deep commitment to student success by delivering excellent academic and non-academic services and supports across the institution. The College is committed to creating an inclusive environment for Indigenous and international students through programs and services designed to enrich the educational experience of the entire student body.

The President is the Chief Executive Officer of Lethbridge College and a member of the Board of Governors.  The President is accountable to the Board of Governors for all aspects of the College’s academic, financial and community performance.  The successful candidate will be able to develop, communicate, and implement a visionary leadership style with all stakeholders and will demonstrate strong personal and professional integrity consistent with the College’s values. This individual will build trust and community with all college constituency groups and will engage with the people of Lethbridge and surrounding areas as a key community leader. As the inspirational strategic and operational leader of the institution, the successful candidate will bring systems thinking and a transparent and communicative leadership style to foster open and productive dialogue with students, faculty, staff, and alumni and leverage the College’s current strengths and assets into future opportunities.

It is strong preference for the candidate to hold a PhD or equivalent and bring progressive administrative leadership experience within a post-secondary institution. As a visionary systems thinker, the successful candidate will lead the institution towards a vision while supporting the strategic and operational plan. With exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, the next President will have the ability to forge strong relationships and culture internally, and also with stakeholders external to the institution. The ideal candidate will be approachable and open, collaborative, credible, entrepreneurial, politically astute, high energy, resilient, courageous, adaptable, comfortable in an environment of uncertainty and ambiguity, creative, curious, and a strong team builder.

The successful candidate will provide leadership in creating space for people who hold diverse perspectives, such as knowing, understanding and engaging with members of equity deserving groups, including but not limited to, Indigenous peoples, racialized people, members of the LGBTQ2S+ communities, and groups who may express non-dominant ideas, practices, and expectations. With an authentic and demonstrated commitment to, and understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion practices and Indigenous engagement, this leader will drive change and inspire faculty, students, staff, and community partners. In addition to creating a culture of inclusion, the successful candidate needs to be capable at building a culture of trust and autonomy, empowering direct reports to be successful with adequate levels of oversight, support, and coaching.
