We are in search of a Marketing Manager who will help to identify and create compelling content that connects Cornell Tech’s faculty excellence and student achievements to a global audience. Candidates must have strong experience in project management, content development, social media, website management and strategic thinking. In 2011 a 12-month-long New York City-driven international competition culminated in Cornell University and the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology starting work on Cornell Tech, a groundbreaking campus on Roosevelt Island aimed at revitalizing the city’s tech scene.

With more than 400 students and cross-disciplinary master’s degrees in business, computer science, engineering, law and technology,  Cornell Tech melds the expertise and thought leadership of an Ivy League school with the nimbleness and innovation of a fast-growing start-up.

That’s where you come in as the Marketing Manager helping to tell compelling stories about our innovative academic programs, research, initiatives and thought leadership.

Reporting to the Director of Communications, duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Project management: 35%

Work with internal stakeholders to identify story ideas, create content, develop and manage editorial calendars for a variety of digital content, including: website and social media content, alumni profiles, Cornell Chronicle articles, and newsletters. Proactively work with admissions on recruitment and marketing strategies that inspire prospective students to apply to the school’s graduate programs Manage vendor relationships, including keeping freelance writers, photographers, and videographers on task, on time and on budget Support the Director of Communications’ supervision of external PR firms and digital/web agencies, helping manage a range of projects promoting Cornell Tech research and academic programs Collaborate with colleagues across Cornell University, including University Relations (central communications/government relations), and units in business, engineering, information science and law Content development and planning: 20%

Brainstorm, write, edit and assign content as needed for a range of internal and external purposes, including web stories, alumni profiles, newsletters, and physical marketing pieces Maintain a chronological content calendar spanning news stories, videos, social media posts and other communications elements Social media / Web: 20%

Oversee social media strategy, management and advertising for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube Write social copy, procure images/videos, and collaborate with vendors, including photographers, graphic designers and videographers Perform ongoing CMS updates for our public-facing site General: 15%

 Develop key performance indicators and monitor communications platforms and products to assess effectiveness. This includes proactive dashboard development, monitoring of analytics and competitive benchmarking, including web traffic and user behavior, social media, and engagement of content such as newsletters. Assist in development, coordination and logistics for public-facing events aimed at raising awareness for Cornell Tech research and programs Work with reporters and external visitors to organize interviews, coordinate press visits and engage in media-relations efforts as needed
Strategic Thinking: 10%

Think creatively about ways to raise visibility and tell stories about the campus, attracting the attention of NYC influencers and business leaders and inspiring students to apply to the school’s graduate programs. Interface frequently with researchers to stay on top of current projects and timely technology trends, as well as help produce content related to their technical papers. This essential position is based on Cornell Tech’s Roosevelt Island campus in New York City, though we will consider a flexible hybrid work option for the optimal candidate.
