Regional Financial Assistance (Hamilton Campus): Financial Aid Counselor to provide knowledge of financial aid processes and counsel students and families regarding Federal, State & University financial aid information. The position verifies accuracy of student aid records and processes reports to ensure timely payment of funds to maintain student retention.

The Financial Aid Counselor will processes and review student aid reports; performs necessary adjustments to student aid packaging to align with both federal student aid guidelines and university policy; evaluates student aid appeals including, Satisfactory Academic Progress, special circumstance, and dependency overrides; adjusts student aid utilizing professional judgement adhering to university and federal guidelines; counsels students and their families regarding state, federal, university, and private funding options; prepares student aid account data utilizing data and systems to identify specific patterns to aid in the improvement of office process efficiency; provides information on federal, state, and private financial aid in a community setting to local high schools and relative community partners to increase student financial education and awareness; maintains relationships with the Office of Student Financial Assistance as well as other affiliated departments to facilitate student success.

Required: Bachelor's degree; minimum 1 year of experience in higher education; preference for financial aid experience. Position not eligible for H-1B sponsorship.

Consideration may be given to candidates who have higher education student financial aid experience or student accounts/billing experience in a higher education setting; knowledge of and experience with Miami University, including institutional and unit policies, procedures, and processes; demonstrated project management and public speaking skills; working knowledge of Gmail, Google documents, and student records software such as Ellucian Banner; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to interact effectively with diverse backgrounds. Must have the ability to think critically and perform complex tasks.
