Job/Department Summary:

Working independently and under general direction of the Director of Financial Aid, the Associate Director of Systems and Compliance will oversee and supervise the Processing and Systems unit of the Financial Aid & Scholarship Office. Incumbent's primary responsibility is to support the Financial Aid Office by providing advice, consultation as well as timely and effective services regarding all aspects of the PeopleSoft Financial Aid system module and other financial aid processing systems and solutions, as well as regulatory compliance and integration of compliance requirements into systems. Incumbent provides expertise in updating, maintaining, and troubleshooting systems processes; data analysis, gathering, and reporting; business process analysis, development and implementation; systems use analysis and needs assessment; operational metrics and performance; research, analysis and development of solutions and product options; management of relationships with software developers on- and off-campus, documentation of system procedures and calendar, training, and advisement.

This position is a blend of Financial Aid leadership, administrative knowledge, functional expertise in student administration software, and business process development. The position is responsible for leadership in the systems area of Financial Aid and Scholarships Office, which includes the completion of all tasks, projects, and administrative mandates necessary to achieve department, division and University goals while providing support for the strategic system needs of the department.

Mandatory Vaccinations:

The CSU requires faculty, staff, and students who are accessing campus facilities to be immunized against COVID-19 or have received a medical or religious exemption. Selected candidates should be prepared to comply with this requirement.

Preferences:

Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:
  • Bilingual
  • Experience in the CSU system with the Common Management System.
  • Work experience in an academic setting, ideally public higher education.
  • PeopleSoft Financial Aid experience.
  • Knowledge of financial aid regulations, compliance, processes, and procedures.
  • SQL writing knowledge.
  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree.
  • Experience strategically supporting organizational growth and/or change.
  • Experience creating and implementing long- and short-term operational goals.
  • Experience in determining and coordinating resource allocations.
Required Education and Experience:

Requires the equivalent to a bachelor's degree in information technology, accounting, business administration or relevant area.
AND
Three years progressively responsible work experience, including a minimum of two (2) years of direct experience implementing or managing the support of the Financial Aid PeopleSoft Module or equivalent.
AND
A minimum of 1 year leading and/or supervising professional staff.

Time Base: Full-time- 1.0

Pay Plan: 12/12

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Summer - Mon-Thurs 7:00am-5:30pm. Part-time telework may be considered.

Salary and Benefits Information:

Salary commensurate with background and experience of the individual selected. (Anticipated hiring range: $80,000 - $85,000 per year).

This position qualifies for benefits including tuition fee waiver (if eligible).

Therefore, this is a “designated position” under the California State University’s Conflict of Interest Code and the incumbent will be required to file a Form 700: Statement of Economic Interest and is subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission. (Group/Category: Director/ Assoc or Asst Director, 1, 2)

This position is a Higher Education Employer-Employee Relations Act (HEERA) designated managerial position and comes under the Management Personnel Plan (MPP) of the California State University. Individuals appointed to management positions serve at the pleasure of the President or designee. They are excluded from the collective bargaining process, are not subject to probationary service, and do not receive tenure or permanent status. This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
