JOB DESCRIPTION

The Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of Indianapolis is seeking a tenure-track psychology Assistant Professor of Psychology – Cognitive Psychology beginning in August 2022, for a 10-month appointment.

We are particularly interested in individuals with training in the area of cognitive psychology who have a secondary interest in one of the following areas: developmental psychology, health psychology, multiculturalism/diversity, biological psychology, or research methods and statistics.

Candidates for this position should be able to teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in cognitive psychology and the cognitive and affective bases of behavior, statistics and/or research methods, and courses in their secondary area of interest. Faculty typically teach 3-4 classes each semester, 1 class over the summer, and supervise a combination of honors, thesis, and dissertation students. The successful candidate will have a record of publications in peer-review journals and have an established program of research. Additional faculty responsibilities include student advising, and related psychology program and/or University service.

Successful candidates will possess a Ph.D in Psychology from an accredited institution. Candidates who are ABD may be considered with the expectation of degree conferral prior to August, 2022. It is preferred that the successful candidate has demonstrated evidence of effective post-secondary teaching. Applicants are asked to submit a list of at least three professional references, a curriculum vita, a cover letter speaking to their qualifications in relation to the position responsibilities, and a statement reflecting on how they infuse diversity into their teaching and scholarship. The positions are open until filled with the review of applications to begin immediately.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teach dynamic, interactive, and engaging graduate and undergraduate courses
  • Supervise doctoral dissertations
  • Develop a program of research/scholarship that involves students
  • Serve on departmental, college, and/or university-wide committees as required
QUALIFICATIONS
  • PhD or PsyD in Psychology or related field required
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level
  • (Preferred) Experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level
