Admissions Recruiter - CDM

Job Description:

The Admissions Recruiter assists in the attainment of student recruitment goals; aids in the planning and execution of on-campus events along with under-represented student recruitment related programs. Plans and facilitates a variety of student recruitment related programs and/or events. Performs recruitment strategies. Helps with the execution of on campus events in Joplin and the main campus in Kansas City. Contributes to team effort by performing other duties as needed/assigned. Participates in implementing department goals, objectives, and systems. Actively participating in team and University meetings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides excellent customer service for prospective students, current students, pre-health advisors, as well as the community, faculty, staff and others who are in contact with the Kansas City University (KCU) Office of Admissions.
  • Functions as the primary communicator to prospective College of Dental Medicine students
  • Promotes the benefits/rewards of the University’s educational programs to all students
  • Cultivates relationships with prospective students
  • Supports the College of Dental Medicine for student activities & events, as needed
  • Helps with the execution of on campus events including helping to coordinate the CDM and COM Interview Days
  • Assists with the development and administration of College of Dental Medicine Admissions web presence and social media communications
  • Represents department and the University favorably and in accordance with established Core Values and expectations
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the organization
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Education, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field preferred
  • Admissions and/or Student Affairs experience in an academic institution of higher learning with involvement in recruiting an underrepresented population
  • Must have excellent oral/written communication and presentation/public speaking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate small to large meetings, while providing excellent customer service
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, be detail-oriented, a self-starter, and able to work independently and/or under minimum supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, balance multiple projects in stressful situations and with frequent interruption, yet, able to perform assignments accurately, attain deadlines, and maintain positive relations
  • Excellent follow-through skills required
  • Requires ability to maintain computerized record keeping systems
  • Ability to utilize word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Must maintain on-going, insurable driving record
  • Willing and available to travel 25% of the time, with heaviest concentration of travel occurring in the fall and spring
