Salary for Announcement

The salary range for this position is $49,900 – $62,400. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty and training.

The above salary ranges represent the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the ranges of possible compensation at the time of posting. MSU Denver offers a full benefits package.

Position Summary

The Branding, Marketing and Social Media Specialist for the College of Letters, Arts & Sciences will use critical inquiry and dialogue to assist with advancing the marketing, recruitment and enrollment plan and vision for the College.

Responsibilities include:
  • Branding and communications, marketing, and social media planning and management.
  • Assist with strategic events, programs and initiatives to help build a collective identity for faculty, staff and students who are a part of the College.
  • Work collaboratively with CLAS leaders and internal team members, CLAS Departments and special programs, and across divisions to create relevant content and work on key projects and initiatives.
  • Work in tandem with the CLAS Marketing and Communications Specialist. They are an integral member of the CLAS Communications and Marketing Team and reports to the CLAS Data Analyst and Marketing and Communications Senior Manager.
  • If needed, this position will liaise and coordinate with the University Communications and Marketing branch.
Duties/Responsibilities

Branding and Communications 30%
  • Works in tandem with the CLAS Marketing and Communications Specialist to build a College brand plan and identity that aligns with the College’s vision, mission and guiding principles.
  • Evaluates current brand image and uses data to set brand awareness strategies.
  • Promotes brand growth and expansion.
  • Manages and enhances the College’s brand and reputation to current and prospective students.
  • Creatively engages with students at point of entry to increase brand awareness and enrollment.
  • Ensures every aspect of communication aligns with brand identity. Coordinates content, communications and information sharing among internal and external departments, divisions and groups.
  • Gathers information and helps set communications plan, calendar and departmental standards and expectations.
  • Stays current on higher education trends and other university, college and school activities.
Marketing 30%
  • Develops marketing strategies and targeted outreach campaigns to current and prospective students with the aim of increasing enrollment.
  • Translates the value and importance of the arts, humanities and sciences to current and prospective students.
  • Coordinates efforts with the CLAS Communications and Marketing Specialist to deliver marketing and advertising creative assets and content to share across various platforms.
  • Works with departments and special programs to develop, implement and track tailored and customized marketing and advertising strategies and plans.
  • Evaluates and analyzes goals, strategies and campaigns and prepares reports for the CLAS senior leadership team.
Social Media Planning and Management 25%
  • Audits current social media presence among the College, departments and special programs to create, develop and implement College wide social media marketing plan with specific and targeted goals.
  • Produces strategic social media campaigns that increase enrollment.
  • Uses appropriate metrics, data and key performance indicators to assess social media marketing plan and campaign success rates.
  • Assists the College’s departments with the development of tailored and customized social media marketing plans.
  • Creates content, monitors, sorts, replies and engages with users on various social media channels.
  • Act as a resource for the College, departments and special programs by providing trainings, setting social media standards, policies and procedures, and keeping track of social media managers.
  • Other related items include determining appropriate social media platforms, organizing content calendars, researching and reporting on social media management tools (such as Hootsuite, Social Champ, Buffer, etc.).
Events, programs and initiatives 10%
  • Assists with College events, programs and initiatives; helps with developing creative and innovative programming that meets needs of College constituents; with CLAS Marketing and Communications Specialist, organizes planning committees, facilitates meetings and ensures initiatives are planned, coordinated and presented professionally; duties may include preparing agendas, arranging guest speakers, catering, travel arrangements, arranging venues, in addition to managing event budgets and preparing and disseminating professional communications regarding programs and initiatives.
Additional assignments 5% -
  • May include hiring, training, supervising and managing (i.e., coordinating schedules, check-ins, mentoring) student staff members (both work study and/or student hourly); leading, coordinating team and office meetings; serving on relevant College and University committees.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business, Communications or related field.
  • Minimum 2-3 years professional branding, marketing, social media and/or public relations experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in branding and facilitating marketing and advertising plans.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated success working and collaborating in teams across divisions with rapid, frequent, overlapping and conflicting deadlines.
  • Experience working in Higher Education marketing and advertising.
  • Experience working with underrepresented students specifically, low-income, first-generation, and racially/ethnically diverse student leaders in a college/university setting.
Work Hours

40 hours/week, Monday through Friday. This position may offer a hybrid (in-person and remote) work option.
