Position Summary

The Associate Athletics Director for Facilities, Operations and Capital Projects position expands the capabilities of the Director as a leadership representative for the Athletics Department. Under the guidance of the Athletics Director, this position provides leadership and assists the efforts of other associate athletic directors. Oversees the operation of all athletic facilities as well as direct and supervise game day operations for all home athletics events. Serve as the primary contact for all capital projects and improvements to the athletic facilities. Oversees the department's units of Information Technology as well as Strength and Conditioning. Oversees Conference (Big Sky, etc.), NCAA, USATF (USA Track & Field), and other external events. Oversees designated teams and serves as a department representative to the university and external constituents. Abides by all conference and NCAA rules and regulations. Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletics Director.

FLSA: Exempt

CSU Classification Salary Range: $ 3,750.00 - $ 10,417.00 per month

Hiring Range: Anticipated hiring range is within the classification range, commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

Work Hours: Monday through Friday 8am - 5pm with frequent need to work evenings and weekends

Department Information

The program of intercollegiate athletics is organized and conducted as an integral part of the total educational program of the University. Academic excellence and athletic accomplishments go hand in hand at Sacramento State. There are three separate and unique missions in this program: to contribute to the educational objectives of the University; to provide a healthy, competitive athletic experience to individual student-athletes; to serve as a public relations vehicle within the community.

The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics offers both academic courses and an intercollegiate athletics program. Academic courses offer the opportunity for individuals to gain knowledge and understanding in a particular area of expertise related to intercollegiate athletics.

With a current student population of approximately 30,000, Sacramento State, the capital University, is one of the larger campuses in the 23-campus California State University system, the largest system of higher education in the nation. Required Qualifications

Education/Experience:
  1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  2. Three years administrative experience in leading, planning, or supervising the activities of a business operational unit.
  3. Experience with budget management and facilities operations.
  4. Experience providing supervision and/or lead work direction.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and university policies and regulations pertaining to the Athletics Department.
  • Strong management and leadership skills, including the demonstrated ability to recruit, train, supervise, and coordinate work assignments and evaluate results.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish positive relationships with students, student-athletes, faculty, staff, the campus community, and the community at large.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, and the ability to prepare and deliver presentations and information to groups.
  • A high level of creativity, strong initiative and self-motivation.
  • Proficient with software common in departmental management (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Demonstrated ability managing and/or coordinating facilities and large-scale events in an intercollegiate or professional athletics setting.
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to inclusion and diversity including but not limited to differences in ethnicity, national origin, race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identification and ability.
  • Ability to frequently work weekends and evenings.

    1. Experience managing and/or coordinating major athletic events at a regional or national level.
    2. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
