Under the direction of the Senior Director of Finance, perform a variety of duties to assist the Business Office in servicing the University by providing a variant of clerical and administrative support. The Business Office Assistant is responsible for coordinating all of the collection and billing functions of the university. This position is responsible for the accurate, timely processing of the collection of all students' tuition, fees, and miscellaneous charges. This position is the primary contact for students concerning information related to their monthly statements and answering students' questions.

 

The successful candidate must be committed to continuous improvement and perform the following duties:

    Maintain a welcoming and supportive demeanor to aid faculty and students in a fast-paced environment. Service students, answer questions, and resolve issues on a timely basis while applying Mount Mary University student accounts receivable policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner Assist students with questions related to their student accounts as reflected on mymtmary or Transact payments. Research and resolve student tuition account issues in conjunction with the Business Office Accountants, the Financial Aid Department, the Registrar, and other university departments. Develop a working knowledge of all student financial aid programs as administered by the Financial Aid Office. Maintain payment plans and prepare monthly invoices for current and former students. Assist in preparing student accounts for collections. Prepare correspondence to current and former students. Receive and record student tuition payments and all other payments, including online payments. Post and close daily cash receipts, prepare daily deposits and maintain a daily deposits worksheet. Maintain petty cash for the campus. Update and maintain billing schedules. Main contact responsible for answering the main business office telephone and email while providing front desk coverage during office hours and days. Proactively seek opportunities to support the functions of the business office. Perform duties in a manner that is congruent with the College's vision, standards, and ethics. Perform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned
Qualifications and Experience:

    Minimum high school education. Formal accounting and college education are a plus. Minimum of one to three years experience in a similar position.

    Detail-oriented, strong initiative, superior customer service skills. Skills in prioritizing, organizing, and problem-solving. Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and work with diverse groups. Must thrive on working in a fast-paced multi-tasked environment. Must possess a drive for excellence.
