JOB DESCRIPTION

The Krannert School of Physical Therapy at the University of Indianapolis is entering an exciting time of innovation as we look to the future of physical therapy education. We are seeking a dynamic and innovative individual to join our excellent team as the Director of Clinical Education.

Program highlights include:

The Director of Clinical Education position includes oversight of the full breadth of clinical education within KSPT (DPT, PTA) as well as management and coordination of the clinical education program within the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. If you are interested in becoming part of the nationally recognized faculty of the Krannert School of Physical Therapy, then you are invited to apply for a 10-month, tenure or non-tenure track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor or Professor of Practice.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitates quality clinical learning experiences for students
  • Selects and maintains clinical learning environments in accordance with the mission of the Krannert School of Physical Therapy
  • Compiles and interprets data related to clinical education and develops, monitors, and refines the clinical education component of the DPT curriculum
  • Plans clinical faculty development activities and evaluate DPT students’ performance during clinical rotations in cooperation with clinical educators as part of the clinical experience courses
  • Ensures clinical education policies, procedures and practices follow CAPTE accreditation standards, including formal student agreements with clinical education facilities
  • Communicates information about clinical education with faculty, clinical education sites, clinical education faculty and students
  • Provides oversight and guidance to 1-2 assistant DCE’s and one experiential education administrative assistant
  • Coordinates and conducts student clinical education preparation and provides oversight of student compliance with health requirements and annual health education training
  • Designs, implementations, evaluations, and revision (as needed) of the programs curriculum
  • Teachs their assigned content, honestly and effectively assess student learning, and assign grades as appropriate
  • Advises students on curricular matters, professional behavior, and personal development goals and participate in discussion and vote on student disciplinary decisions, which are determined by a majority vote
  • Participates in the development and implementation of expectations for behaviors and skills students must demonstrate to ensure competency and safety prior to engaging in clinical education and in the determination of student readiness for clinical education
  • Participates in the selection of qualified candidates for admission. Each core faculty member is required to participate in program interviews and at least one recruitment event per year
  • Initiates, adapts, evaluates, and upholds program policies and procedures, compatible with university policies and procedures including, but not limited to: academic and professional behavior policies; student requirements; admission requirements; clinical education; and student progression through the program
  • Attends and participates in program meetings, participate in an annual formal evaluation, and participate in activities of service and scholarship as required in the University of Indianapolis Faculty Handbook and KSPT Faculty Handbook
  • Works closely with and oversee the work of an administrative assistant who assists with clinical education duties
  • Evaluates the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor performance of students during course activities and other program-sponsored extracurricular activities
QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 3 years of full-time post-licensure experience in clinical practice, including, at least two years of clinical practice experience as a Site/Center Coordinator for Clinical Education (SCCE) and/or clinical instructor (CI) in physical therapy or at least two years of academic experience in teaching, curriculum development and administration in physical therapy education
  • Evidence of contemporary expertise that represents the knowledge and skills reflective of current clinical practice
  • Evidence of an ongoing or developing record of a scholarly agenda or strong potential for one is preferred
  • A terminal academic or clinical doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, DHSc, DPT, etc.) from a regionally accredited institution is required. Individuals currently enrolled in an academic or clinical doctoral program may be considered
  • Eligibility and intention to obtain an unrestricted Indiana physical therapy license
  • Ability to function well within a collegial and collaborative work environment is required
