Haverford College invites applications to our available full time, fixed term, exempt, benefit eligible Research Associate position in the Intersectionality in the Social Mind Lab.

The research associate will assist on an NSF-funded project that takes an intersectional perspective on children's social categorization. This position is for an initial contract of one-year, with the possibility of two additional years pending positive performance. The preferred start date is June 1, 2022.

Essential Functions & Primary Responsibilities:

The research associate will primarily be responsible for all aspects of the funded research project, including interviewing adults, preschoolers, and school-aged children; collecting and analyzing data from large-scale surveys; creating and maintaining community partnerships; and designing testing instruments for both adults and children. Collecting and analyzing data from children will require weekend work, as well as some afternoons. In addition, the research associate will be responsible for training and supervising undergraduate research assistants, cultivating a team orientation, and fostering a high degree of professionalism among lab members. Other duties will include working with school and museum administrators, maintaining compliance with the University IRB, managing participant recruitment, maintaining the lab website, purchasing materials, developing and maintaining lab procedures, maintaining a participant calendar scheduling system, preparing presentations and materials for meetings, screening and prioritizing mail (including email), drafting correspondence and other documents, initiating and editing reports, and managing finances.

Line of Report: The research associate will report directly to the Principal Investigator (PI) of the lab.

Education, Training, & Experience:

This position requires a bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field within cognitive science.

At least one year of relevant research experience, including research experience with children is highly preferred.

The ideal applicant will have excellent organizational skills, strong writing skills, and the ability to multi-task and work independently.

Proficiency with statistical analysis (especially in R) and prior experience providing support in a lab environment is also preferred.

Attention to detail is crucial.

Special Requirements:

Possession of a valid U.S. Drivers' license and the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record check are required.

Ability to obtain and maintain PA Act 153 Child Abuse clearances is required
