New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Head of Training and Education, reporting to the Senior Director for Inclusion and Equity.

The head will manage and provide strategic direction for the global diversity education and training area within the Office of Inclusion and Equity and across NYUAD. This is an exciting and dynamic role that works across NYUAD’s constituency groups (students, staff, faculty, alums) and external partners and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will create and build upon innovative education initiatives and researched-based Inclusion, Diversity, Belonging, and Equity (IDBE) education strategies as well as deliver high-impact offerings to the university community. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and provide strategic direction for inclusion and equity education and training areas within the Office of Inclusion and Equity. Develop NYUAD curriculum and training management structures. Implement and evaluate all aspects of the diversity education programs. Create and manage faculty, staff/administrators, and student programs including but not limited to in-person and online modules, and inclusive leadership initiatives. Program design and assessment of all training programs. Develop and oversee the marketing and branding of all diversity education programs. Lead the creation of train-the-trainer competency programs, classes, and workshops that provide diversity training and development to students, administrators, faculty, and other members of the NYUAD community with the goal of enhancing an inclusive campus environment supportive of diversity. Determine effective content, themes, and outreach strategies to a wide cross-section of NYUAD constituencies, including all divisions and department, faculty, and administrators. Support the coordination and creation of new initiatives to educate and train the University community to be active and successful participants in a diverse and inclusive society and to advance a climate of inclusion, diversity, belonging, and equity. Consult faculty and administrators on pedagogical, curricular, and methodological issues around diversity and cultural competency 
  • Serve as an influential and present leader within the community for inclusion, diversity, belonging, and equity-related matters. Consult, advise and support students, faculty, and administrators in personal, professional, and co-curricular matters to help resolve difficulties and determine if diversity education interventions are needed. Develop and provide resources for students, make referrals to other professionals, services, and organizations both on and off-campus, and follow up with students as needed. Consult faculty and administrators on pedagogical, curricular, and methodological issues around diversity and cultural competency. Serve as a resource to the entire campus community, including students, faculty, and administrators. Serve as a proxy for the Senior Director of Inclusion and Equity when necessary. Liaise with members of the Office of Global Inclusion, Diversity, and Strategic Innovation, when necessary, in modifying guidance documents and educational initiatives for NYUAD
  • Develop and implement innovative initiatives on behalf of the Office of Inclusion and Equity to strengthen partnerships and forge relationships with the broader community. Develop and scale for cost training offerings for external participants and stakeholders. Build relationships and partnerships with multiple stakeholders including but not limited to (Student Affairs, Global Education, Human Resources, Office of the Provost) to advance inclusion, diversity, belonging, and equity efforts in and around the NYUAD community. Identify opportunities for the university to lead global education efforts within higher education, the UAE, and the MENA region
  • Supervise, evaluate, and manage full-time, graduate, and undergraduate students. Manage trainers and educators. Manage education and training budget. Oversee professional development for all staff, establish needs for student development and support programs
  • Lead research and assessment efforts with special attention to intercultural competency, student needs, and campus climate. Recommend and implement changes and initiatives as necessary
  • Lead branding and marketing efforts connected with global diversity education and training initiatives

Required Education:

  • Master's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Education, Social Sciences, Counseling or related field 

Preferred Education:

  • Doctoral Degree

Required Experience: 

  • 7+ years experience in diversity training and developing diversity and anti-bias related training curriculum, working with students, faculty, and administrators in the area of multicultural and diversity education within a global context and more specifically the MENA region
  • Branding, marketing, and assessment of training and diversity education programs
  • Experience supervising professional staff or managing work teams
  • Curriculum development and training expertise
  • Ability to interact with individuals at all levels and to serve as a leader
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, ability to adapt training materials for diverse audiences
  • Knowledge of presentation and online training software
  • Proficiency with standard office software
  • Must be well versed in quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy of data in NYU systems and be able to strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards

Preferred Experience:

  • 6+ years in developing and managing diversity education programs or units and facilitating “training of trainers” programs
  • Experience in global diversity education/training and classroom teaching
  • Experience and overseeing research and assessment initiatives 
  • Knowledge of trends and best practices in global diversity education/training and assessment and research
