After one year, if you are still interested in adjunct teaching, you must reapply to this adjunct pool. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Those selected for adjunct positions will be invited to participate in selected graduate program faculty meetings and workshops for teaching and professional development.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Develop a course syllabus (or revise an existing syllabus, as appropriate), preparing assessment rubrics for evaluating student performance on course assignments.

  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Please note there are no clinical, research, or service duties associated with this adjunct pool – it is strictly for teaching.

Requirements:
  • A completed Master’s degree in Public Health is required.
  • Specialized experience in the discipline of public health and the topic to be taught.
  • Demonstrated teaching and/or presentation experience.
Preferred but not required:
  • PhD or other doctoral degree in the applicant’s field of expertise.
  • Prior experience teaching graduate-level public health and/or epidemiology courses.
Hiring Rate: 3 credit course at $2,000 per credit, for a total of $6,000.

Please note that if you have held an hourly or adjunct position at VCU within the Standard Measurement Period, your combined number of hours may not exceed more than twenty-nine (29) hours per week on average and no more than 1,480 hours per year.

If you are currently an Adjunct Faculty member at VCU you must also receive approval from your primary role’s supervisor in order to hold a secondary assignment as an adjunct. Please discuss this with your current supervisor prior to applying.

These positions are part-time, non-benefited roles, and this pool is set to close on March 30th, 2023. Adjunct faculty may not (a) work more than 29 hours per week on average over a twelve-month period, including classroom or other instructional time plus additional hours determined by the institution as necessary to perform the adjunct faculty’s duties; or (b) meet or exceed, on average over a twelve-month period, 75% of the course load for a full-time non-tenure track teaching faculty member at that institution.
