Director for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
New York University College of Dentistry
New York University College of Dentistry, one of the most dynamic
and robust dental educational and research institutions of higher
education in the world, seeks a full-time Director for Diversity,
Equity and Inclusion.
Position Summary
The Director for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) is
responsible for managing and providing strategic direction to
advance diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives at the College
of Dentistry. The director will serve to help craft
institution-wide educational excellence expectations around
inclusion, diversity, belonging, and equity informed by current
research and trends in higher education. The director will develop,
implement, and assess diversity initiatives, programming and events
for students, staff, faculty and researchers and provide direction
to them as needed. The director will also liaise with NYU’s Office
of Global Inclusion, Diversity, and Strategic Innovation (OGI) and
external partners and stakeholders to strengthen diversity, equity
and inclusion at the College of Dentistry.
Qualifications
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education: Doctoral Degree Ed.D. preferred or
equivalent
Required Experience:
5+ years of professional experience, or equivalent combination of
education and experience in creating, developing, implementing and
assessing institutional diversity programs in an academic
environment or other relevant experience. Relevant experience in
diversity training and developing diversity and anti-bias related
training curriculum, working with students, faculty, and staff in
the area of multicultural and diversity education within a global
context.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal, organization, planning, collaboration, and
communication skills. Strong client relations, problem-solving and
analytical skills. Project management, event planning and budget
management ability. Strong detail-orientation. Ability to
prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously, while meeting
deadlines, and maintaining high-quality work product. Strong
knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Research
skills. Exemplary relationship building skills with both internal
and external constituents. Curriculum development and training
expertise. Ability to interact with individuals at all levels and
to serve as a leader. Ability to adapt training materials for
diverse audiences. Knowledge of presentation and on-line training
software.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of trends and best practices in global diversity
education/training and assessment and research.
