Position Summary

MSU Denver’s Department of Social Work Field Coordinator for Data and Resource Management works to support the operations of the Office of Field Education. The Department of Social Work is a large, vibrant department that serves over 1,000 students and partners with over 700 community-based field placement organizations. The Office of Field Education is an integral component of MSU Denver Department of Social Work’s operations.

The Field Coordinator for Data and Resource Management will primarily manage the day-to-day operations of the Field Office, serving as the point person on a daily basis for students and community professionals involved in the field education program, and developing and implementing processes to support the administrative functioning of the office. This position coordinates many functions of the Field Office’s web-based database and other online applications, including designing procedures and end-user training materials, providing in vivo support to a variety of stakeholders, and utilizing data for reporting purposes in alignment with the departmental mission.

This position must be able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and must posses strong organization and communication skills with a commitment to professional development and ability to adapt to meet the needs of the Department of Social Work. The Field Coordinator for Data and Resource Management, in addition to the role in the Office of Field Education, will work in collaboration with undergraduate and graduate programming and Office of Social Work Student Services ( OSWSS ) teams to support the strategic direction of the Department of Social Work.

Duties/Responsibilities

Data and Resource Management
The Field Coordinator for Data and Resource Management will collaborate with the Assistant Director of Field Education to develop processes, forms, and materials for incoming and current students. As such, the person in this position will:
  • Manage the maintenance and inputting of student placement and field agency information utilizing computerized databases, spreadsheets, and online applications on a daily basis to provide accurate, current information.
  • Collaborate with and serve as project manager to the Database Vendor and the Office of Information Technology Services to implement and continually develop the web-based field agency database and other online applications to accommodate the growing program.
  • Generate reports to ensure the accuracy of data and to avoid duplication.
  • Manage requests for data and produce reports and data to summarize and represent the work with students and agencies in the field program.
  • Collaborate with the chair, directors, and grants team within the Department of Social Work to generate reports through the Sonia Field Database and other sources of field-related data for department-related and grant-related data management.
  • Manage and develop the collection of semester field evaluations and submission of assessment data to the Assessment Committee.
  • Participate in evaluation efforts, data collection and analysis in order to inform and improve program effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain online resources and information for students using the MSU Denver web-based applications.
  • Support the Director of Field Education by developing and coordinating processes and procedures regarding contracts and liability between MSU Denver and community agencies.
  • Provide supervision to student workers to assist with the administrative tasks related to the Field Office, as needed.
  • Collaborate with Director of Field Education and Office of Social Work Student Services to assess resource needs for the Office of Field Education that will inform budget recommendations to the Chair.
  • Track and manage field office expenditures including purchasing responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Field Education team to assess resource needs and make recommendations to Director of Field Education on allocation of resources.

Communication and Outreach
The Field Coordinator for Data and Resource Management will provide general field advising to students on program requirements and the field placement search process. The position will also provide support to and collaborate with the Assistant Director of Field Education for Placement Development and Support on development of operations to support the field placement search process and ensure smooth communication with students and community contacts. As such, this position will:
  • Develop and maintain communication processes and program materials for community contacts.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Field Education to support the recruiting and retention of community partners and highlight the work of the Office of Field Education both internally and externally.
  • Support the development and implementation of monthly outreach efforts to effectively aid in the retention of students and strengthen the relationships with community partners.
  • Communicate field education program events, policies, and procedures to community contacts and students.
  • Serve as an information resource to faculty and staff concerning placement information.
  • Represent the Office of Field Education at departmental, university, and community events.
  • Present at field education events and meetings as directed by the Director or Assistant Directors of Field Education.
  • Collaborate with the OSWSS to advise prospective students on the field program.
  • Coordinate with the OSWSS Welcome desk to ensure accurate field information is provided to prospective students and applicants.

Event Coordination
  • The position will collaborate with the department’s event planner and members of the Field Office to coordinate all logistical details of student and community facing field-related meetings and events including, but not limited to: Student-to-Student Field Events, student and agency orientations, ongoing field agency meetings, faculty field liaison meetings, and annual appreciation event.
  • This position, in collaboration with other field coordinator(s) and student workers, will help to coordinate the day of the event including distributing parking passes, organizing catering, room set up and break down, managing participants including sign in for Continuing Education purposes.

Other Duties as Assigned

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrated experience providing administrative support
  • Demonstrated experience with web-based database systems
  • Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ year of experience with event planning and management
  • 1+ years of experience working with and supporting external community partnerships
  • 1+ years of experience working within an academic unit
  • 1+ years of experience with developing marketing materials
  • 1+ years of experience with Word Press and/or other website edit/design software
  • 1+ years of experience working in Banner or related database system
  • Experience designing and implementing processes in web-based databases to support user experience and reach program goals
  • Experience or knowledge of use of procurement card, record keeping of expenditures and/or budget management
  • Experience working with data and generating reports
Work Hours

Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
This is a hybrid position designed to support flexibility with both on-campus work, as well as some remote schedules.
