Job Summary:

Full-time, Faculty, 9-month Academic position – Welding Faculty.
This is a full-time, tenure-track, benefited faculty position beginning Fall Semester, 2022.

The faculty member will conduct their assignments and co-curricular college activities in a manner consistent with the philosophy and purpose of Aims Community College as stated in the school catalog. The primary purpose of the faculty member is to teach. The faculty member is also responsible for scholarly and creative activities (professional development), and service to the college.

Job Description:

There are two open positions for this role. One position is located on the Greeley Campus and one is located on the Fort Lupton Campus.

  • Teach at any scheduled time including evenings and weekends as assigned by the Welding Department Chair or Academic Dean.
  • Teach on any campus/outreach site at any scheduled time as assigned by the Welding Department Chair or Academic Dean.
  • Apply learning-centered educational practices such as creating and communicating clearly-defined outcomes for student learning, provide a diverse array of learning activities that are directly tied to those defined outcomes, use assessment data to improve instruction and learning, and participate in an ongoing College-wide dialogue about teaching and learning.
  • Assist in program and curriculum review, revision, development, and assessment of learning.
  • Use and develop appropriate computer-based technologies to enhance student learning.
  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments of learning.
  • Lead and mentor part-time instructors.
  • Research, prepare, and deliver program and curricula updates to part-time instructors.
  • Assist in the evaluation and selection of textbooks and other resources and materials.
  • Participate in institutional and departmental recruitment and retention activities.
  • Participate in professional development and training activities as assigned by the Welding Department Chair or Academic Dean.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of welding program equipment.
  • Establish and maintain positive and professional interpersonal relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Assist in developing quality relationships with business, industry, and community members.
  • Participate in advisory committee meetings and activities.
  • Work as a team member with a genuine spirit of cooperation and flexibility.
  • Demonstrate continuous commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
  • Utilize effective verbal and written communications skills.
  • Must be self-directed and self-motivated.
  • Implement department, division, and/or institutional goals as assigned.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to embrace and apply the provisions of the College’s mission statement, purpose, philosophy, and commitment to diversity.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Welding Department Chair or Academic Dean.

  Minimum Qualifications:

  • Shall hold or qualify for a full-time, post-secondary vocational credential in Welding issued by Aims Community College CTE Office. Contact Landon Loyd for the application at loyd@aims.edu.
  • Possess expertise in the following welding and cutting processes: OAW, OFC, PAC, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, soldering, brazing, thermal gouging, and pipe welding.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate of Applied Science Degree in Welding Technology or related field. Note: Preferable before employment, but if the selected candidate doesn't have it they must obtain within the first 3 years of employment
  • Prior Certification as an American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector. Note: Preferable before employment, but if the selected candidate doesn't have it they must obtain within the first 2 years of employment

Minimum Payment Amount:

$45,900.00 - $48,195.00

The hiring range for full-time positions is based on qualifications, experience and internal equity and one can earn up to 5% above the minimum salary stated in the job posting. Employees in these positions may be asked to participate in temporary assignments lasting less than 6 months (such as curriculum development, short term projects, meetings and substitute duties) which could amount to additional temporary pay.
