The Center for Teaching and Learning at Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for an Assistant Director for Graduate Student and Post-doc Programs and Services (GSPD). Washington University is a highly-selective research university with a strong tradition of high quality teaching. The CTL at Washington University plays a central role in promoting best practices in pedagogy across all schools of the university.  We are seeking an experienced academic professional to join our dynamic team of educational developers. This position focuses on the support and development of graduate students and post-docs as effective and reflective teachers.  The Assistant Director will work collaboratively with colleagues from the CTL to develop evidence-based programs and initiatives, lead GSPD workshops, facilitate learning communities, and consult with post-docs and graduate students as they work towards improving their teaching. In addition, the Assistant Director will also contribute to the broader educational development efforts in the CTL.  

Requirements for the position include: Ph.D. degree (STEM or social science discipline preferred), two years of teaching experience at a college or university (This experience may include serving as a graduate teaching assistant with significant instructional duties during graduate training), knowledge of effective pedagogies and best practices in higher-education teaching, ability to communicate educational-research findings to diverse academic audiences, and experience in developing and delivering workshops on teaching for graduate students, postdocs, or faculty.

The successful candidate will have a strong record in the area of educational development including working in or with a center for teaching and learning, knowledge of evidence-based practices and experience developing and delivering programs. Finally, the successful candidate should be able to communicate effectively in written, oral, and visual forms.
