Position Summary:
The Department of Curriculum & Instruction (C&I) in the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences, University of Idaho (UI) seeks passionate and well-qualified applicants for a full-time (9-month) Clinical Assistant Professor position in Elementary Science Education, beginning August 15, 2022. The successful candidate will be based at the Coeur d’ Alene Center, will teach elementary science methods, core teacher education courses, as well as a graduate research course where necessary, and advise undergraduate students. The successful candidate must be willing and able to participate in outreach to build partnerships with the community, recruit and place students for practicum, and participate in service and leadership activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Earned doctorate by August 15, 2022 in Elementary Education or Education with emphasis in Elementary Science Education
· At least three years of contracted K-12 teaching experience including science· Evidence of, or the potential for exceptional teaching, advising, and service at the undergraduate and graduate levels
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience in teaching and advising students preparing to teach science in a P-12 setting· Design and deliver curriculum and instruction informed by cultural proficiency and inclusive pedagogies· Qualified to teach graduate research methodology courses· Qualified to teach science education and other elementary content courses· Experience facilitating learning opportunities for elementary education teachers· Experience teaching diverse student populations.· Experience working with diverse communities, including building partnerships with historically underserved populations.· Demonstrated scholarship in science education· Experience teaching via distance learning technologies· Experience with technology and its role in education at all levels
· Experience with internal and external collaborative partnerships
