Open Rank Teaching Professor, Communication Studies

About Northeastern:
Founded in 1898, Northeastern is a global research university and the recognized leader in experience-driven lifelong learning. Our world-renowned experiential approach empowers our students, faculty, alumni, and partners to create impact far beyond the confines of discipline, degree, and campus.

Our locations—in Boston; Charlotte, North Carolina; London; Portland, Maine; San Francisco; Seattle; Silicon Valley; Toronto; Vancouver; and the Massachusetts communities of Burlington and Nahant—are nodes in our growing global university system. Through this network, we expand opportunities for flexible, student-centered learning and collaborative, solutions-focused research.

Northeastern's comprehensive array of undergraduate and graduate programs— in a variety of on-campus and online formats—lead to degrees through the doctorate in nine colleges and schools. Among these, we offer more than 195 multi-discipline majors and degrees designed to prepare students for purposeful lives and careers.

About the Opportunity:
The Department of Communication Studies in the College of Arts, Media and Design at Northeastern University invites applications for full-time Teaching Professors to support and expand our curriculum in Communication and Media and Screen Studies. We seek candidates from diverse theoretical, methodological, and applied backgrounds who can lead courses across our curriculum.

Responsibilities:
Teaching professors lead 3 courses per semester, with the possibility of summer classes for extra compensation in areas of their academic and/or professional expertise. Priority areas include Advertising, Analytics, Communication Ethics, Communication and Identity, Critical Media Studies, Health Communication, Media Production (studio or field), New Media Communication, Public Speaking, Quantitative Research Methods, Rhetoric, Social Change Communication, and/or Sports Communication. Appointments will be made at the Assistant, Associate, or Full teaching professor levels, commensurate with experience. In addition to teaching, faculty are expected to contribute to the life and function of the Department through service and to maintain active portfolios of research and/or creative work in their areas of expertise.

Qualifications:
Candidates must have a terminal degree (typically, a PhD or MFA) in Communication, Media Studies, or related field and prior experience teaching at the college level. Experience teaching graduate and executive education courses is desirable. Candidates with well-developed research and/or creative activity agendas that will contribute to interdisciplinary initiatives across the College or University will be given preference for the position.

Salary Grade:
FAC
