Job Description



PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Director, Sonography is responsible for directing and providing leadership for all aspects of General Sonography, Echocardiography, and Non-Invasive Vascular Sonography Programs. The position maintains accreditation for all three programs. Provides service to the college, community, and students by maintaining high quality programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Maintain CAAHEP (JRC-DMS) accreditation for all three programs. (Ongoing assessment and effectiveness, surveys, outcomes, curriculum, clinical).
  2. Manage daily operation and provide leadership for all three programs. (Organization, review/evaluation, curriculum, clinical, adjunct faculty, part-time employees, lab resources, college &/or accreditation reports/data, offer program student advising support, mentor students as needed, assist Dean by participating in FT faculty observations, mentor new faculty and PT employees).
  3. Manage application process. (Forms, website information, contact with prospective applicants/recruiting, scoring).
  4. Participate in budget planning, budget allocation and purchasing. (Work with DOM and Dean in planning/allocation of resources, plan for equipment repairs, supply needs, instructional needs).
  5. Maintain staffing (participate in recruiting, hiring and training for adjuncts and lab staff, scheduling, approve part-time hours, monitor adjunct assigned hours, input on full-time hiring).
  6. Develop schedules. (Semester workload for Faculty (FT and adjunct), semester course/class schedules for all three programs, part-time lab employee monthly schedules).
  7. Facilitate curriculum. (Review JRC-DMS curriculum requirements, participate in curriculum changes and with Curriculum team, contribute to college IE/ACE, participate in WECM workshops as needed).
  8. Teach - optional. (PLEASE NOTE: As needed. Not required of this Administrative position. The job description lists teaching responsibilities that are not a requirement).
  9. Maintain relationships with external stakeholders (community). (Maintain relationships with clinical sites, marketing events-market programs and seek new clinical partnerships, seek affiliation agreements, facilitate Advisory Committee meetings and maintain relationships with members/ex-officio member).
  10. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of clinical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience must include at least 2 years as an instructor
  • Current ARDMS or CCI certification
  • Distance education certification or a commitment to obtain certification through LSC (or equivalent) within 12 months of employment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree
  • Multiple credentials or additional credentials in General, Echocardiography, or Vascular
  • Community college experience
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish
Salary

Hiring salary range is $79,960 to $91,954.

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer.
