Director and Chief Nursing Administrator
Cleveland State University is now accepting applications for a twelve-month, tenured associate or full professor and Director of the School of Nursing beginning June 1, 2022. The Director oversees more than 40 full-time and 72 part-time faculty, and 11 staff in the school supporting nearly 1500 students annually across bachelor’s, master’s, certificates, and doctoral degrees in nursing.
Reporting to the inaugural Dean of the newly formed health professions college, the Director of the School of Nursing serves as the academic leader and chief nursing administrator implementing the vision, mission, strategic plan, and core values of the School. The Director guides all aspects of the School’s operations including the nursing educational programs and curriculum and oversees program accreditation processes and compliance with all applicable state and accreditation requirements. The Director actively mentors and supports faculty, strengthens School relationships in the community, and fosters clinical partnerships and affiliations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Nursing from an accredited institution or equivalent and a nationally accredited nursing program; or equivalent or Ph.D. in Health-related field or Education or Ed.D. from an accredited institution or equivalent AND a Graduate Nursing degree from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent and a nationally accredited nursing program.
- A record of comparable professional experience and credentials prior to appointment that merit appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.
- Two or more years teaching experience in a pre-licensure nursing education program.
- Five or more years of clinical professional nursing experience.
- Current or eligible for an unrestricted nursing license in the State of Ohio.
- Experience in higher education administration overseeing curriculum design, implementation, and evaluation.
- High level of interpersonal skills for communication, transparency, and collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with institutional and programmatic accreditation requirements and regulatory standards governing nurse educational programs.
- Leadership experience in a position of authority to accomplish the mission, goals, and expected program outcomes in nursing.
- Experience teaching in a graduate nursing program.
- Experience with program growth and development including multiple modalities to meet the needs of a diverse and changing student population.
- Ability to forge successful collaborative leaderships with internal and external stakeholders.
