The University of Maryland School of Nursing seeks an enthusiastic and talented individual to serve as Development and Alumni Relations Associate (Philanthropy Associate II). The Development and Alumni Relations Associate will be an instrumental partner to enhance and enrich the overall development and alumni relations operations. Under limited supervision, the Development and Alumni Relations Associate, plans, coordinates, and oversees a variety of professional and administrative activities supporting all fundraising and alumni initiatives for the Office of Development and Alumni Relations. Serves as office coordinator for the department.

Primary Duties:

  • Plans, organizes, and implements key activities related to the Office of Development and Alumni Relations.
  • Manages general office activities such as paying invoices and ordering supplies.
  • Process travel and non-travel reimbursements and disbursements for foundation accounts.
  • Represents the School of Nursing. Responds to development and alumni relations inquiries and follows up as appropriate.
  • Makes substantive decisions related to the design and character of special events.
  • Provide support for development and alumni relations events, including printing materials, maintaining RSVP and attendance lists, reserving rooms, and coordinating catering.
  • Prepares fundraising and special events brochures, letters and other literature.
  • Prepares regularly occurring and ad hoc reports on donor prospect, or pledges trends.
  • Request lists and data from Advance database, edit and organize data and create spreadsheets.
  • Assist with Graduway, the School’s online alumni networking platform.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  Qualifications   

Education: Bachelor's degree.

Experience: Two (2) years of experience in fundraising or other philanthropy.

Preferred Experience: Demonstrated experience in planning and executing special events.

Other: Related experience may be substituted for education.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Familiarity with using a development and alumni relations database (or comparable data management system) preferred. Must be proficient with computers and software, particularly Microsoft Office. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Has the ability to independently handle multiple tasks and set priorities. Knowledge of position requirements. Knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently. Hiring Range: High $40,000s to low $50,000s; commensurate with education and experience.
