The School of Arts and Humanities at the University of New England seeks a full-time, one-year Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor with a scholarly background and teaching interest in Black or Africana Studies. The successful candidate will join an energetic, dedicated, and productive group with expertise across the arts and humanities including creative arts, history, philosophy, communications, English literature, languages, and writing. The start date for this position is August 15, 2022.

The successful candidate will teach both introductory and advanced courses in their field of expertise. The candidate will also likely teach first-year writing and/or a thematically focused, two-semester sophomore world civilizations curriculum. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will participate in curriculum assessment; academic advising; recruiting; and service to the school, college, and university.

A master’s or doctoral degree is required by the time of appointment; candidates holding a terminal degree are preferred. We are open to candidates with degrees in Art History, Communications, History, Literature, or Philosophy. Candidates will have a demonstrated record of scholarship in Black or Africana Studies. Undergraduate teaching experience and training and/or experience teaching first-year writing are required.
