Candidates must possess appropriate research acumen and teaching
skills, consistent with the academic rank, in sustainable animal
production, health, and the veterinary sciences. At the associate
professor level, the appointee is expected to have an established
competitively funded research program. Assistant professors are
expected to demonstrate a starting track record of accomplishments
that indicates potential success and have the breadth of training
and experience to be competitive in obtaining funding at the
federal and private industry sectors.
The primary purpose of this position is teaching and hypothesis-driven research, service to the university, profession, and society is also expected. The incumbent will conduct research consistent with the strategic initiatives and goals set forth in the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, and the Department of Animal Sciences. Such initiatives include priority programs established by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, The National Science Foundation, and The National Institutes of Health. Research initiatives may include, yet not limited to, integrated animal health, animal related environmental sciences, biomedical health sciences, water safety and quality, and food safety as well as animal genetics, nutrition, and reproductive physiology.
