Position Description

The Department of Radiology in the School of Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle is recruiting one full-time (100% FTE) faculty position at the level of Associate Professor or Professor, without tenure (WOT) by reason of funding, commensurate with experience, to join the Pediatric Radiology Division based at Seattle Children’s Hospital in Seattle, Washington with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2022.  Associate Professors WOT and full Professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30).  Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

Clinical responsibilities include pediatric neuroimaging including computed tomography, diagnostic radiology, magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine, CT/PET and ultrasound.  Additional responsibilities include teaching and supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows, contribution to weekly interdepartmental clinical conferences, quality assurance and continuous process improvement, engagement in academic and research activities, and assigned administrative duties.  All UW faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

Seattle Children’s is a 407+ bed medical regional center; over 125,000 pediatric imaging examinations per year are performed across all modalities within the Hospital and associated outpatient clinics. Successful applicant will join 29 full and part-time faculty members in ongoing education of 4-5 fellows and 6-9 residents.  The institution is committed to clinical and research excellence, and radiologists are encouraged and supported in clinical and basic research efforts.  Compensation and fringe benefits are competitive.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • M.D. or D.O., or foreign equivalent, in medicine
  • Possess or be eligible for full medical licensure in Washington State
  • American Board of Radiology (ABR) certification or ABR board-eligible
  • Successful completion of an ACGME neuroradiology fellowship and be ABR CAQ-certified, or eligible, in neuroradiology
  • Excellence in academic achievement as demonstrated by a record of scientific presentation and/or publications
  • Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, fellowship training in pediatric radiology.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
