Essential Functions (Job Duties)
Recruits and coordinates training of Community Health Workers to implement hypertension research interventions under the direction of research investigators for the NIH Funded the WSU ACHIEVE GReateR Program. Reports to Department Chairperson.

Assists research investigators with the development and implementation of training sessions leading to initial Michigan Community Health Worker Alliance/ Community Health Worker certification.

Coordinates, schedules, and assists with or conducts Community Health Worker research training sessions as directed by research investigators and project staff.

Develops and assists with and/or leads new research training needed by Community Health Workers under the direction of and in collaboration with research investigators.

Implements advertising activities for the Community Health Worker positions as directed by the research investigators; assembles applicant submissions for review by the research investigators; coordinates applicant interviews and communication with applicants' references for the research investigators; and assembles materials to support the research investigators' hiring recommendations.

Creates and maintains Community Health Worker Training Manual containing all training resources and protocols as directed by the research investigators.

Attends training provided by the Michigan Community Health Worker Alliance to obtain Community Health Worker trainer certification.

Maintains database of external and internal training completed by the Community Health Workers hired by the research investigators.

Attends meetings and maintains communication with project leadership, project staff, Community Health Workers, Michigan Community Health Worker Alliance, and other external and internal research stakeholders.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Unique Duties

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Community Health or a related field. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Requires a minimum of 3 years of Community Health Worker experience. Must have Community Health Worker certification from State of Michigan's Michigan Community Health Worker Alliance.

Requires in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the Community Health Worker roles and responsibilities, hypertension and hypertension treatment, and research operations.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills to support program relationships. Responds effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Strong presentation and facilitation abilities.

Able to develop and conduct training programs.

Able to prioritize and plan work activities. Supports program priorities under changing conditions. Maintains a clean working space. Professional approach to manage unexpected changes or delays. Self-motivated with strong work ethic to work independently and productively.

Ability to represent the ACHIEVE GReateR program to applicants and encourage applicants to apply for open positions. Ability to represent the ACHIEVE GReateR program at events and sessions with patients and community partners. Treats others with respect and consideration, regardless of their status or position. Accepts responsibility for own actions. Can collaborate on large, multi-faceted projects with other team members/peers.

Responds courteously to requests for service and assistance. Interacts in a professional manner with colleagues, patients, and community members to support program mission.

Able to utilize shared file drive platforms, data management systems, and MS Office tools, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams. Proficient in using Zoom, social media, internet and other digital communication platforms to reach targeted audiences for the ACHIEVE GReateR program.
