Position Summary:
The University of Idaho Extension is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor, Extension Educator, in the Southern District, Canyon County. The Extension Educator will provide overall leadership and organization for Canyon County FCS programming (90%) and support for 4-H Youth Development programs in a specific area of expertise (10%). The Educator will provide assistance in university outreach where appropriate. They will plan, develop, implement, evaluate and report Food Safety and Health & Nutrition programs. The Educator will collaborate with appropriate state, district, and county faculty and participate in the University of Idaho Extension, Food Safety and Health & Nutrition program planning teams. The Educator will coordinate Food Safety and Health & Nutrition program efforts with the appropriate district agencies, coalitions, associations, and organizations and will contribute to state programs. The Educator will extend program outreach to diverse audiences. The Educator will support Southern District Eat Smart Idaho programs and will be expected to develop new grant funded programs in the county and for the Southern District. They will conduct program evaluation and report program impacts. The Educator could potentially serve as chair of the Canyon County Extension Office (20%). As administrative chair for the office, they would maintain a good working relationship with the Canyon County Board of Commissioners, provide supervision for county budget preparation and personnel and perform other chair duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree from an accredited institution in field of study related to Family and Consumer Science, or a closely related discipline, with emphasis in food safety and/or health & nutrition.
• Ability to provide organizational structure and support for a variety of individuals and groups
• Ability to adapt research materials for effective oral and written presentations
• Ability to recruit, teach, organize, and manage volunteer groups.
• Willing and able to travel and adjust to a flexible schedule (i.e. participate in evening and weekend programs).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in FCS Extension Education (relevant experience acquired within the last 5 years preferred).
• Ability to work well in a team and provide effective instruction, support, marketing and promotion for FCS Extension programs.
• Computer literacy and good written and verbal communication skills.
• Previous experience working with un-served and minority audiences.
• Supervisory experience and proven ability to lead and mentor others.
