Essential Functions (Job Duties)
Essential Functions
Applicants will be expected to adhere to the tasks and responsibilities of providing instruction such as being prepared for class sessions; providing course syllabi to students and to the respective social work program; assigning course readings; providing and grading course assignments; utilizing course management strategies; and using technology to enhance course instruction.
Teaching face-to-face or online courses in Social Work:
3 - 4 positions - Social Welfare in the US: Current Programs SW3710, SW4710, SW8770
3 - 4 positions - Social Work Practice - SW3010, SW7040
3 - 4 positions - Human Behavior - SW7560, SW7680
Unique Duties
Qualifications
MSW degree plus at least 2 years of professional, post-MSW work experience
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge in Social Work Practice Method/Methods of Social Work Practice SW3010 - First of four courses providing knowledge, skills and framework for entry level generalist practice including a service learning project.
SW7040 - Basic theories and principles of practice including a strengths perspective with diverse individuals and families. Emphasis on basic values, roles, skills of generalist social work practice; and on ecological systems perspective and practice principles with at-risk and oppressed populations.
Social Welfare in the US: Current Programs SW3710 - History of social welfare in the United States. Basic concepts of social welfare. Current trends and issues in social welfare and in the profession of social work.
SW4710 - Description and analysis of major social welfare programs in the United States.
SW8770 - Advanced Policy Analysis. Opportunity to conduct a policy analysis in an area of interest, e.g., welfare reform, corrections, homelessness, health, domestic violence.
Human Behavior SW 7560 - Lifespan Development in the Social Context. An examination of theories of human development and behavior and development across the lifespan through the lens of an ecological systems perspective within the context of how social systems including families, peer groups, organizations, communities and culture promote and deter human development.
SW 7680 - Human Rights, Social Justice, and Diversity in an Urban Context. Introduces concepts of human rights and social justice as foundational to social work practice. Offers historical and contemporary perspective of the social work profession and its role in promoting human rights and social, economic, and environmental justice. Examines theory and perspectives on the dynamics of oppression, conflict, and social change from a social work perspective.
