Essential Functions (Job Duties)
JOB PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Associate Director, Enterprise Computing, the position will design, construct, configure, and operate the enterprise systems backup and restore environments that supports over 1,000 systems and servers. This includes management of the physical server, storage and network environments that host the backup systems, the Operating System (OS) installation, and the backup application system. The current backup system in use is VEEAM on Windows Servers. Further, this position provides guidance and direction to the various Application System Administrators to support effective backup configuration and restore processes and Enterprise servers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Install, implement, configure, and manage the enterprise backup software system including the management systems, database, and repository services to support the backup of over 1000 servers and protect enterprise data assets.
Design, install, configure, and manage the backup system hardware infrastructure required to support the backup services. This includes over 1.5PB of storage located at both the production data center and the remote disaster recovery facility.
Install, implement, configure, and manage Windows Server Operating Systems (OS) installations and Active Directory administration of objects such as Group Policy Objects (GPOs), Accounts, and permissions.
Install, implement, configure, and manage the central enterprise systems monitoring application used to monitor and detect issues with Windows and Linux server-based systems and services. Maintain the dashboards that reflect the current state of the monitored systems.
Provide support to Application System Administrators that rely on the backup services, Operating Systems (OS) administration, and monitoring applications.
Other duties as assigned.
Unique Duties
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
Bachelor Degree in IT or Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
Experience
Requires a minimum of three to five years relevant job-related experience.
Extensive knowledge and experience in the installation, management, configuration, and operation of Enterprise Backup Systems such as VEEAM to assure the effective protection of enterprise data assets.
Experience in the design, installation, configuration, and management of server and storage hardware for highly available and reliable system operation.
Experience in the Linux Operating Systems is also desirable. Experience managing Active Directory Users, Computers, and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
Experience in the configuration and administration of at least one Systems management and monitoring system.
Preferred Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Strong skills in the installation, configuration and management of the Windows Server Operating systems. A working skillset in scripting languages such as PowerShell for process automation.
Ability to collaborate with others in the accomplishment of a common task or program.
Ability to produce consistent quality work and meet established deadlines with strong attention to detail and follow-up on each task and assignment.
Ability to manage and protect confidential information.
