Description of Responsibilities:
- Primary teaching responsibilities include teaching foundation and upper-level courses in UX and interaction design
- Ability to teach in other areas of interaction or graphic design desirable
- Additional teaching responsibility includes expanding knowledge of diversity, historical, theoretical, critical and contemporary global/multicultural practices in the visual arts and design
- Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of contemporary and critical issues in art and design, the role of media and technology in contemporary art and design
- Candidates must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues
- Candidates must demonstrate innovative thinking in course and curriculum development and engage in pedagogical, scholarly, and service work to increase awareness of diversity and inclusion and understanding of difference
- Departmental responsibilities include being involved with program planning, assessment, curriculum development, student advisement, and participation in department governance
- University responsibilities include staying current on health and safety issues; participation in campus governance; commitment to research/creative activity
Required Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Interaction Design, Graphic Design, or a closely related field at time of appointment
- University level teaching experience
- Professional experience in interaction or graphic design or related field
- Proficiency in Macintosh and PC computer environments
- Proficiency in Adobe Cloud Applications as well as other leading software applications used in the field
Preferred Qualifications:
- MFA, MDes, or an MA with strong record of professional experience
- University level teaching experience past graduate school
- Record of professional or artistic activity and accomplishments in ones area of interest that demonstrates commitment to a practice

Description of Department:
Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, the Art Department has over 250 undergraduate majors in degree programs in Art, Art History, Graphic Design, Illustration and Interaction Design. These programs include the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA). Additionally, undergraduates can elect to minor in art, art history, graphic design, expressive art therapy, illustration, photography, museum studies, or arts management. Students majoring in interaction design can study in the full spectrum of media studies associated with that discipline including web design, multimedia design, 3-D modeling and animation, interaction design, and motion graphics. The Department also offers an MA degree in Graphic Design and Digital Media, an MAT in Art Education, and an MA degree in Human Computer Interaction.
