Position Summary
This position performs general custodial and minor maintenance duties at the Washburn University Institute of Technology (Washburn Tech) Huntoon Campus.
Essential Job Functions of Position
Vacuum, dust and mop classrooms, hallways, offices, meeting rooms, dining rooms and other interior spaces using appropriate methods, equipment and materials to clean and refresh assigned areas on a daily basis.
Strip and wax floors, shampoo carpets, wash windows, etc., as directed and/or needed.
Empty trash receptacles and remove trash.
Clean and sanitize drinking fountains and rest room facilities.
Clear walks and pathways of trash, dirt, snow and ice to ensure the safety of individuals entering or leaving the facility.
Move and set up or tear down furniture and equipment to prepare for and /or clean up after meetings.
Move office furniture and equipment as requested or needed.
Replace rest room supplies and light bulbs in offices, hallways and classrooms.
Mow grass and edge sidewalks.
Pick up donated items as assigned using a school vehicle.
Use a forklift as needed or requested to unload delivery trucks.
Assist other staff to complete special cleaning, repairs, replace stop signs, etc.
Perform additional job related duties as assigned or as appropriate.
Non-Essential Job Functions of Position
Education and Experience
Custodial and/or maintenance work experience.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow instructions. Capable of working in varied weather and temperature conditions. Ability to move and/or maneuver equipment and materials weighing as much as 80 pounds. Experience driving a forklift. Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, and hazardous materials.
