The Program Coordinator delivers and assists with planning outreach program activities, strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences. May assist with tracking and managing the outreach program budget. The ideal candidate should have a clear passion for supporting entrepreneurship among students, faculty, and the community.

Responsibilities

Program Management and Event Coordination (60%)
  • Leads the implementation of programs, policies, and procedures through oversight of day-to-day activities for program staff, student interns, and faculty/community volunteers.
  • Delivers outreach program content and materials to the University community.
  • Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program.
  • Plans, markets, and executes the Center’s annual events, competitions, and programs including the Elevator Pitch Contest, Business Model Competition, Titan Accelerator Program, regional pitch events, Wisconsin Startup Week, activities with the Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization, and many others.
  • Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials.
  • Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement.
  • Develops and maintains student intake process, level of support, counseling sessions, and goal attainment toward lean business development efforts.
  • Develops and manages Accelerator programming, fund disbursement and grant requirements, performance measurement, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Oversees seed money delegation to student organizations that comply with WEDC and program requirements.
  • Serves as faculty advisor to the Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization (CEO).
  • May assist with the monitoring of outreach program budget spending.
  • Designs, develops, and implements appropriate programs and activities to address needs and to meet the goals and objectives of the CEI’s strategic plan.
  • Implements tools and processes for program management and innovation efforts.
  • Builds relationships and collaborative partnerships with departments across campus, alumni, and community members.
  • Represents the Center through external meetings and serves on campus-wide committees and external initiatives as appointed.
  • Accomplishes other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Small Business Consulting – SBDC (20%)
  • Provides one-on-one counseling to small business owners/managers and prospective entrepreneurs across a broad spectrum of business topics.
  • Assists in meeting core Small Business Administration (SBA) metrics connected to counseling performance.
  • Maintains accurate, professional counseling records to comply with SBDC requirements.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client records and counseling sessions.
  • Engages in occasional staff meetings, state meetings, and other SBDC activities.
  • Develops strategic goals and objectives for clients and monitors progress.
  • Accomplishes other duties as assigned by the SBDC Director.
Recruitment and Retention Activities (10%)
  • Develops partnerships with major donors to foster and further develop relationships that will offer opportunities for students.
  • Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach programs.
  • Assists in the development of the CEI’s strategy to effectively market the center on campus and potentially statewide.
  • Identifies and nurtures business opportunities and partnerships to maintain strong collaborations throughout the region.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with area businesses interested in supporting a strong mentorship program.
Outreach and Professional Development (10%)
  • Partners with local business development organizations and community entrepreneurial support organizations to support the growth and advancement of economic development initiatives in the community.
  • Attends professional development trainings as needed to remain competent and current.
  • Works closely with faculty from across campus to support student-faculty relationships in business feasibility.
  • Promotes the CEI and its programs at every available opportunity, with specific responsibilities for recruitment and promotion.
Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field
  • Evidence of strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners in the broader entrepreneurship ecosystem
  • Ability to write well, learn quickly, and exercise ethical behavior and judgment
  • Resilient, self-starter who is a team player
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Preferred:
  • Knowledge of Lean Startup Methodology
  • Experience in business coaching, consulting, or entrepreneurial activity
  • Engagement with innovation, entrepreneurship, commercialization, or venture creation
  • Previous record of building strong networks with business leaders, economic development agencies and other stakeholders
  • Involvement with program or center development and management
  • Understanding of social media platforms for marketing and communication
