Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Department of Education is pleased to announce an opening for a Lecturer in the area of Elementary/Special Education. Within the context of the University Mission, Salve's Teacher Education Programs develop in students a desire to seek wisdom and to promote universal justice. Preference will be given to applicants who possess a Ph.D./Ed.D. who demonstrate successful teaching experiences and are familiar with the Rhode Island Department of Education Initiatives. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in race and inequity in American education, content methods, and supervise students in relevant clinical field experiences. The course load would be 12 credits each semester for a total of 24 credits per academic year. The successful applicant will have an opportunity to collaborate with departmental faculty as well as have the opportunity to design and conduct research studies and mentor undergraduates.


Requirements:

The successful candidate must have an earned Ph.D./Ed.D., and teaching experience in a Pre-K-12 setting. Knowledge of the RI Department of Education accreditation process is a benefit. Candidates must be strongly committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring. The ability to communicate effectively in speaking and writing, to use technology in teaching and learning, and to work collaboratively is essential.
