Position Summary 

This grant-funded, renewable, non-tenure track Lecturer position is responsible for teaching 24 credits each academic year in the Department of NAIS with the specialty of teaching indigenous languages  

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree or higher in a field that supports the teaching of Indigenous languages with the ability to teach an Indigenous language at both lower and upper-division levels.  
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities     

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • An educational background in Indigenous Studies (AIS, NAS, and NAIS) at the bachelor's, master's and/or doctorate degree levels.  
  • The teaching areas of the applicant should reflect specialized knowledge of Indigenous North America languages, especially those of the Southwest.  
  • An established record of College-level teaching that demonstrates knowledge of and embraces Indigenous pedagogies.  
  • A demonstrated record of mentoring Indigenous students and/or other underrepresented students.  
  • A record of collaborative and community-based engagement with an Indigenous community.  

Major Responsibilities 

  • Contribute to the NAIS department by developing language and culture courses in the major and 24 credits in an academic year.  
  • Collaborate and participate in the creation of the “All Our Nations Language Revitalization Hub”   
  • Provide academic and career advising to NAIS majors, double-majors, and minors.  
  • Provide service to the NAIS department by participating in department events and programming; contributing to annual curriculum and program assessment; participating in the shared responsibility of representing the department at recruitment events, commencement, and Senior-seminar research symposia.  
  • Mentor and supervise undergraduate NAIS student research.  
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.  
  • Maintains knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the American with Disabilities Act and Section 508.  
  • Produces and remediates digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Compensation  

Salary is $50,000,  plus a comprehensive benefits package.
