Job Description:
The Department Chairperson provides academic leadership to the
Aviation Department and serves as an integral member of the College
and Campus administrative team. The position facilitates learning,
quality teaching, scholarships and services. The position provides
support and advice in the collective bargaining process and ensures
adherence to relevant areas of any collective bargaining
agreement.
Duties & Responsibilities:
•Develops semester course schedules and faculty
assignments
•Ensures departmental compliance with SACS accreditation
guidelines
•Actively markets aviation programs and establishes effective
recruitment strategies to attract students
•Monitors and ensures success with increasing student enrollment,
retention, graduation and job placement rates; as well as,
resolving student issues
•Oversees records and the reporting system to meet (FAA)
requirements for the Air Traffic – Collegiate Training Initiative
(AT-CTI) designation
•Evaluates in adherence to criteria of accrediting and certifying
agencies and ensures compliance with FAA requirements
Minimum Requirements:
•Master’s degree in a related field or related discipline and
five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in aviation, a
relevant business or the transportation industry
•Knowledge and understanding of a wide range of instructional
systems development, training methods, techniques and formats
•Knowledge of the requirements of accreditation agencies
