The Colorado State University Libraries is the heart of learning
and research on campus, connecting curious minds to vital
information and knowledge. The library system includes Morgan
Library, the primary library, and the Veterinary Teaching Hospital
Library, a branch library located in CSU’s James L. Voss Veterinary
Teaching Hospital. The Libraries’ mission is to curate inclusive
collections and provide equitable access to materials and services
critical to student success, research brilliance and community
engagement. The Libraries employs approximately 80 faculty and
staff and 100 student employees who collaborate to meet the
informational needs of users in the Libraries’ physical and digital
spaces.
The Library Technology Services team plays an important part in achieving the strategic goals and priorities of CSU Libraries (https://lib.colostate.edu/about/strategic-plan/) by administering, developing and supporting library applications and technologies. Working collaboratively with colleagues across the library, the university and the profession, we strive to create user centered systems that enhance discovery and preservation of knowledge resources and services.
The UX Librarian will be instrumental in ensuring a seamless, exciting and empowering online user experience for staff and users by eliminating barriers to managing, discovering and using library resources and services. The person in this position will be responsible for creating a deep understanding of Libraries’ online user behavior by employing industry standard UX assessment methods and analysis. They will actively work with the Library Technology Services team and library staff to apply their findings to create, change and inform solutions that build a cohesive user experience across a wide variety of applications and discovery methods.
At Colorado State University, diversity, equity, and inclusion are more than words – they are a call to action. The CSU Libraries supports this vision with a commitment to boosting equitable access to knowledge by eliminating barriers to discovery. We seek candidates from a rich diversity of lived experiences who are excited to work with users in an inclusive university community that welcomes and affirms diversity of people, identities, perspectives, and ideas.
Applicants are encouraged to think broadly about and communicate how their skills and experiences transfer to the qualifications in ways that may not be obvious. We strongly encourage those who will further advance the Libraries’ commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive community, including those from historically underrepresented groups, to apply for this position. We welcome applicants with a range of experiences, including those new to the profession.
