POSITION TITLE: FACULTY, INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE TECHNOLOGY
STATUS: Full time Tenure Track

POSITION SUMMARY
Adapt to new and changing situations and demonstrate a positive attitude. Fifteen contact hours a semester constitute a standard load. Course assignments may be late afternoon, evening, Saturday, and at branch campuses or satellite centers. Position is subject to all terms and provisions of the Joliet Junior College faculty contract.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Teach a minimum of 15 contact hour load per semester including all pertinent subject areas.
2. Possess and maintain a thorough knowledge of the subject matter necessary to the assigned course load; continue to seek professional development and industry certification. Assist in the preparation of data and documentation for program review.
3. Work closely with other instructors and special programs and services within the college to determine placements, curriculum, and academic support.
4. Participate in course development, assessment, and planning activities.
5. Be willing to teach online and/or hybrid courses.
6. Demonstrate experience and leadership in the incorporation of appropriate technology in the classroom.
7. Participate as an equal partner in the maintenance and upkeep of the classroom and lab facilities including keeping the contents functional and up-to-date. Assist in writing equipment specifications, ordering equipment, inventory and selection of instructional materials, tools and equipment.
8. Assist students with academic advising and job search.
9. Participate in departmental meetings, advisory meetings, articulation meetings, and serve on committees.
10. Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and learning.
11. Demonstrate strong understanding and commitment to the community college mission.
12. Teach at other campus sites as needed.
13. Meet job requirements specified in the Carl D. Perkins Vocational Education Act of 2019.
14. Meet other contractual obligations as spelled out in the Joliet Junior College faculty contract.

15. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Over 2,000 hours of experience in Industrial Maintenance (or related field) including hand-on experience performing mechanical maintenance in an industrial setting. Experience should include rotating and mechanical power transmission equipment.
2. Experience in appropriate technologies of instruction such as Microsoft PowerPoint.

3. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.

4. Demonstrated commitment to the college’s core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Associate’s Degree in any discipline, preferably Industrial Maintenance, education, or engineering.

2. Ten-plus (10+) years hands-on experience performing mechanical maintenance in an industrial setting. Skills should include equipment alignment, pipefitting, mechanical power transmission maintenance, and/or rotating equipment maintenance.

3. Possess the requisite knowledge/skills to teach all IMT classes with the primary focus on IMT 111 (Mechanical Power Transmission), IMT 112 (Rotating Equipment), IMT 121 (Industrial Fluid Power) and IMT 101 (Maintenance Fundamentals).

4. Experience at the community college level including teaching.

5. Experience in course development and assessment, planning, quality and accreditation processes, and committee service.

6. Experience with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds.

7. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.

8. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Normal classroom physical demands plus maintaining/relocating modular lab equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Duties are performed indoors in the usual classroom and lab environment.
