Description of Responsibilities: This Management/Confidential position functions as a professional human resources generalist. Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources, this position is responsible for advising administrators, faculty, and staff in numerous areas of human resources management. This position serves as the primary contact responsible for handling the unclassified employment function and manages all aspects of the search process for SUNY Oswego. This position is responsible for the recruitment of faculty and professional staff from initiation of the search through hire. This position provides essential consultation and communication to all parties involved in the search process including the search chair, hiring manager, and search committee. In addition, the incumbent will assist with equal employment opportunity matters as they arise and ensure policies and procedures are followed. The incumbent will also assist with general human resources-related duties including titling and compensation, representing the human resources office on committees, and actively contributing to the overall goals of the human resources office and the mission of SUNY Oswego. This position also oversees all employee immigration-related issues and facilitates the Visa sponsorship process for faculty. The Talent Acquisition Manager will provide expert consultation to the campus community regarding a wide variety of complex human resources laws, policies, procedures, the Board of Trustees policy, and State University of New York policies. This position requires a considerable amount of independent discretion on the part of the Talent Acquisition Manager.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution by the time of appointment
  • Minimum of three years of experience working in Human Resources or Staff Recruiting
  • Experience working with an automated Human Resources Information System (HRIS) system
  • Excellent oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Public speaking and presentation skills
  • Ability to work at a high level of attention to detail, while maintaining accuracy
  • Excellent independent judgment empathy and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to develop collegial working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Superior analytical and decision-making skills and problem-solving techniques
  • Ability to be creative, flexible, and self-motivated. Quality and customer service oriented
  • Proficiency in operating a personal computer utilizing Windows-based products and business software programs (Word, Excel, Email, and PowerPoint)

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Human Resources, Management, Business Administration or related field by the time of appointment
  • Experience working with an automated Applicant Tracking System
  • Recruiting experience
  • Human Resources experience in the public sector and/or higher education SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP); or Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification
