The Department of Biomedical Sciences is seeking applications for research intensive full-time (academic year) tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor. This faculty member will also be a contributing member of the Diabetes Institute (DI), (https://www.ohio.edu/medicine/di). The faculty member will join a group of active, extramurally funded, investigators whose research focuses on obesity, diabetes, and its associated metabolic diseases. The mission of the DI is to improve the quality of life for those affected by diabetes and related diseases through innovative basic and applied research, progressive patient care, education, and community outreach. The Department of Biomedical Sciences consists of several faculty members with research and teaching expertise in metabolic, musculoskeletal, and neurological disorders, infectious disease, microbiology, cancer, comparative anatomy, and aging.

This research-intensive position will have an opportunity for participation in medical and graduate education programs. A PhD, MD, DO or equivalent degree and research experience (basic or applied) in metabolic disorders (ideally diabetes mellitus) is required. A minimum of three years of postdoctoral training is required. Evidence of extramural funding is desired but not required. The salary will be accompanied by an excellent benefits and start-up package. Position duties include: conducting scholarly research; mentoring students and junior researchers; grant writing and submissions, publications and teaching.
